October at Mar Vista Public Library

Posted on 09/22/17

During October, our Mar Vista Public LIbrary celebrates Native American Heritage Month with a display of books on Native American history. Other programs include:

  • Tuesday Oct 3rd: Young adult button making program
  • Saturday, October 7rd: 3rd quarter book sale
  • Tuesday Oct 10th: Adult program "History of Rebozos". Come to hear Miriam Quezada, curator of the traditional Mexican scarf and wrap. Miriam's love for Mexican art motivated her to produce Mexican folk art pieces from found objects which she featured at Cultura, her own gallery in Long Beach.
  • Saturday Oct 14th: Celebrating our local Mar Vista authors and independent/self-published authors at Local & Indie Author Day. Stop by to chat with these neighborhood authors!
  • Thursday Oct 19th: Children, teens and adults participate in Read for the Record 2017 by reading Quackers. Do join in the fun to see how many readers will register. Last year's number topped 2 million around the world!!
  • Monday Oct 30th: Medicare 101 program and a Children's Slimy Science program that is sure to please!
  • Tuesday Oct 31st: Celebrate Halloween with a movie and refreshments.
