Does your street qualify for a Blue Curb (Accessible Parking Zone)? On January 24, 2017 the Los Angeles City Council adopted the Phase 1 Program for APZs.
The Phase 1 Program generally restricts the placement of APZ’s to corner locations to serve the entire block. Any necessary improvements will be included in the City’s Sidewalk Repair Program for design and construction. City Departments will report back to the City Council in six months on Phase 1 regarding eligibility, feasibility, prioritization and construction costs for APZs. Residents and businesses may submit a request for an APZ investigation for corner locations. City Departments will review these locations for feasibility pursuant to Federal and State accessibility guidelines.
Federal and State guidelines require APZ’s to be accessible to mobility devices such as wheelchairs. For APZ placement guidelines - and a request form - download the Accessible Parking Zone letter below. To request an APZ investigation at a corner location, please return the attached request form to the Department on Disability. If you have any questions, please contact the Department on
Disability at 213-202-2685 or Mary Gligorov-Meeker from the Department of Transportation at 213-700-5091.
