The 2010 Mar Vista Community Fall Festival: A Great Success!

It's time again for a fabulous Fall Festival in Mar Vista.

The 2010 Mar Vista Community Fall Festival (Saturday October 16, 10:00 AM-4:00 PM, Mar Vista Park) is made possible by the Mar Vista Community Council, with the support of the Mar Vista Rec. Center, the Park Advisory Board, Councilman Bill Rosendahl’s office, and the many community volunteers who donate their time and expertise to help make this event a success.

The festival will offer fun for everyone, featuring a variety of live stage entertainment, art galleries, giant slides and bouncers, games, silent auction, food, arts and crafts, face painting, health information booths and much more!

This year theme is “Healthy Living,” so many of the booths will focus on living healthy. Don't miss the sports demonstrations and clinics that highlight the various activities offered in our community and at the Mar Vista Rec. Center.

Throughout the day the Festival Mainstage will feature talented performers and entertainment (Tango, Jazz, Choir, Rock and more). We are especially proud to showcase the student talent of several Mar Vista area schools, including two jazz ensembles and a choral group from the Windward School, a choral group from Mar Vista Elementary School, and the Pep Band from Venice High School.

Community artists such as country rock band Texas House Party, tango performances by Oxygen Tango---a local Mar Vista based tango dance troupe and school, and a special gymnastics demonstration by All Olympia Gymnastics Center are bound to move you!

Following last year’s successful Student Art Show, the tradition continues with exhibits in the auditorium by community schools, youth art programs, and community artists.

The festival concludes with an exciting silent auction featuring not-to-miss items, its proceeds helping to cover festival expenses and enhancing the facilities at the Mar Vista Recreation Center.

Sponsored by the Park Advisory Board, the Mar Vista Fall Festival is proud to present a diverse sampling of park-based activities.

We hope you enjoy the mix of instruction and participation as you learn more about the wonderful and varied "healthy living" programs offered at the Mar Vista Recreation Center, which are open to new participants, young and old, novice and expert. In addition to meeting activity organizers and current participants, prizes and information will be made available. The accomplished coaching staff at Windward School is also conducting a wide-ranging sports clinic. Come ready with questions and prepared to
participate!
