What is WISE Connections?
WISE Connections is a membership-based virtual community that supports aging in place for adults 50 and older in the greater Los Angeles area. The model is broadly based off of the “village” concept, which originated as a grassroots community effort in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood and has been replicated around the country with 106 communities actively engaged in developing “village” associations.
A group of your neighbors has been gathering over the past year and a half to bring this growing initiative to the Mar Vista community. Together with WISE & Healthy Aging, these individuals have developed a membership-based program called “Mar Vista WISE Connections,” serving the community’s 50 and better population. It is a grassroots effort developed by your neighbors and is 100% member driven, providing what the community wants and needs.
Who can participate?
The membership is for those age 50 and better; however, all members of the community will be encouraged to participate as volunteers and partake in the Mar Vista WISE Connections neighborhood activities.
What are the benefits?
Mar Vista WISE Connections will serve as a one-stop shop to meet your needs. The goal is to help simplify your life, enable you to feel confident in the services you receive, keep you active and socially connected and to help you to age well. As a member, you
will have access to a range of benefits and services, such as:
• Grocery assistance
• Household services
• Health and wellness opportunities
• Social and cultural outings
• Vetted and discounted vendors
• Concierge service
• Volunteer opportunities
