CRIME PREVENTION TIPS
Send messages and emails of your concern to Councilwoman Traci Park and Mayor      Traci Park for Los Angeles City Council | Traci Park

If there is a homeless location or encampment and you email the appropriate section on the councilwoman’s website, her team places it on a clean up list. If enough people complain about a certain area, it gets placed high on the list quicker.

It is summertime.
Here are a few tips if you leave home for a period for vacation:
*Place a hold with the United States Postal Service (USPS) at their website so mail will not be delivered at your home and
you can pick it up at the Post Office when you return.   Do not let piles of mail or packages gather.

*Put timers on interior lights in the evening so your house will not be dark for multiple days in a row.

*Let your neighbors know you will be gone and have them keep an eye out while you are gone.

*Remember: Rear glass doors or rear sliding glass doors is the number one entry in residential burglaries.

*Consider investing in an inexpensive jewelry box with costume jewelry that appears real to use as a decoy.
Place it in an easy to view area on a dresser.  In case burglars entered your residence, they will easily find that and leave quickly.

* Search on the internet for more crime prevention tips while on vacation.

For your vehicles and electric bicycles:
Place AirTags or trackers in your vehicle for quick recovery in case it gets stolen.

Our Neighborhood Cleanup was a Success!

Posted on 07/30/2024

Our neighborhood cleanup was extremely successful with 20 volunteers picking up a total of 200 pounds of trash between Zones 3, 5, 6 and 7. We met a ton of new community members and we are very grateful to Alana’s for their generous donation of delicious coffee and space. We also want to thank Rob Kadota for lending his truck and materials and to the city of LA for letting us use their tools. We look forward to seeing you at the next one in October. It will be Halloween themed. ~ Deryl Clauson- Mar Vista Community Council Member-Zone 7 Director
