Transportation & Infrastructure Committee

The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee serves as the policy advisory body to the Mar Vista Community Council on transportation and infrastructure issues that concern and/or impact the Mar Vista community. The committee's goal is to promote community input and involvement on these issues, and to provide input to the MVCC Board regarding:

(a) redress of issues raised by the community regarding traffic, transportation, and infrastructure, and

(b) the development of area planning strategies for transportation and infrastructure, in cooperation and coordination with Los Angeles Department of Transportation, California Department of Transportation, and other organizations and stakeholders, that will enhance the quality of life for all in the Mar Vista community.

The September 26th meeting of the Transportation and infrastructure committee will discuss five important issues in city, state and national government. 1. Should the management of the LA Department of Water and Power negotiate new contracts directly with the IBEW 18 labor union or should negotiations continue to be done by a committee of City Hall insiders?

 The Los Angeles Planning Department has invited the Mar Vista community to participate in the update of the City Los Angeles General Plan Mobility Element, the transportation blueprint for the City of Los Angeles.

At its meeting on July 17, 2012, the Board of Commissioners of the LA Department of Water and Power gave its approval to the Final Environmental Impact Report for construction of the 12 mile long transmission line from the Scattergood Generating Station to the Olympic-Centinela Distribution Station. Construction is anticipated to take two years.

The DWP will have a Community Meeting to discuss their proposed 2112-2014 Power & Water Rates on Wednesday, May 30th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Westchester Municipal Building, Community Room, 7166 W. Manchester Ave., Westchester 90045.
